How to Measure Head Size
19" = Child
Fit most children 8 to 14 years of age.
20 3/4" = Petite Petite
Also called Ultra Petite by some manufacturers, is the smallest size available other then a childrens wig. Very few wigs come in this off-the-shelf size. This size is usually for a child but may qualify for a very small woman. See about sizing for further help.
21" = Petite
Petite is a very command smaller size for petite women.
21 1/4" = Petite Average
The closest measurement to fall in this in-between-size is 21 1/4". This qualifies you for petite or Average in most cases.
21 1/2" = Average
Average is usually quantified as 21 1/2". As you can see there is very little size difference in these measurements. Fortunately, 97% of all wigs are sold in the Average size.
22 1/2" = Average Large
Average Large is 22 1/2 for most manufacturers. Very few wigs come in this size and those that are made in this size are short styles for the most part.
23" or more = Large
The large size calls for a 23" to 24" head size and once again, it is usually made in short styles so see *sizing for further HELP!
Remember, the sizing is just a guideline. All manufacturerers have their own sizing techniques. There are many simple methods to make your wig feel more secure on your head. There are elasitic pull fasteners at the back of the wig behind the ears. For starters, pulling these fasteners to a comfortable position is usually all it takes to make your wig a better fit.
THIS IS JUST A GUIDELINE. WIGS DO HAVE SOME STRETCH IN THEM. LOOSE IS BETTER THAN TOO TIGHT. Wig circumference can be adjusted up to 1" larger or smaller to ensure a secure fit.
Many people like to put a few pin curls in their own hair, especially above the ear. Criss cross a pin curl or two on your own hair and then after puting the wig on your head -find these X crossed pin curls under your wig and put a pin through the wig and through these pin curls. This makes for a very secure fit and some curl in your own hair when you remove the wig.
For those who need professional sizing! This can be done and we make these amendments to our customers wigs at our store in Tigard, Oregon. For those who are good at making tucks in the waist of pants or skirts - it is pretty much the same type of adjustment. You just double down or cut out the area not needed and sew it together again.
How to Wash a Synthetic Fiber Wig
Wash every 20 to 30 wearings.
Tips before washing:
NEVER BRUSH WHEN WET . . . With that in mind, it stands to reason to never put a synthetic wig under running water, or you could loose the style, the shape or the curl pattern. Do not dip, twist or rub the fibers.
KEEP AWAY FROM EXTREME HEAT . . . Do Not use a hair dryer, blow dryer or curling iron. Avoid excess heat. Sudden bursts of heat, such as ovens, fireplaces or the hot tub. This will frizz the synthetic fiber and damage your wig.
- Gently remove tangles from the wig or hairpiece with fingers or pick comb.
- Add one tablespoon of specially formulated Wig Shampoo in a basin of cool water.
- Soak for 5 to 10 minutes.
- Rinse thoroughly in basin of cool water (never running water). Be sure to rinse until all shampoo is removed, as improper rinising could result in damage.
- Dab gently with towel to remove excess water. Do not squeeze or twist, remember only dab or pat with towel.
- Do not brush or comb while wet as it may stretch or otherwise damage the fiber, and may loose the style of the wig.
- Allow to air dry at room temperature by placing on a wig stand which will allow air circulation. Never put a wet wig on a solid head stand, as it may stretch the cap.
- When wig is completely dry, it is ready to brush or comb.
- Do not use hair dryer, blow dryer or curling iron. Avoid excess heat. Sudden bursts of heat, such as opening an oven door, will damage your wig.
- Don't try to changing colors with tints, bleaches, or chemicals . . . You may ruin your wig. Remember, this is a synthetic fiber.

Choose the right shape for a more beautiful you!
Oval - many choices
The ideal facial shape is oval. It has no dominant area and looks very harmonious because the face is evenly balanced. Consequently, oval faces look good with almost any hairstyle.
Round - avoid width
The Round Shaped Face is characterized by a wide hairline and fullness below the cheekbones. the Contour moves from each cheekbone through the jawbone and chin. The client may be overweight and the neck may appear short.Solution: combing height in the top and crown sections, when possible, tends to diminish some of the roundness. Long, wispy side areas help to make the cheeks look narrow. Combing the hair close to the head on the side and nape sections also helps.
Square - advoid straight lines
The Square Shaped face is characterized by a wide hairline and jaw.Solution: combing the hair off the forehead and adding height at the top creates an oval illusion for the face. Curly texture and wisps of hair around the sides of the face break the wide straight lines common to the square face.
Diamond - reduce width at sides
The Diamond Shaped face is characterized by a narrow chin and forehead with wide cheekbones.Solution: to achieve an attractive oval look, fullness or width is needed in the forehead hairline and lower cheekbones areas of the face. Fullness is not needed in the area of the upper cheekbones, so the hair should be styled close to the head in this area. The hair should be styled with a fringe or bang to disguise the narrow forehead and with fullness around the jawbone to complete the oval illusion.
Heart - add volume at chin
The Heart Shaped face is characterized by a large, wide forehead (often with a widow's peak), and a narrow chin.Solution: to remedy the heart shape face, some hair is brought onto the forehead to reduce the area across it. A pagebory-type style is good for the lower sides of the face. With such a style, the hair is close to the head at the eyes, where narrowness is needed, but the hair is slightly full toward the face around the jaw, and below and in front of the earlobes, where width is needed.
Pear - add volume above jaw line
The Pear Shaped face is characterized by a small or narrow forehead and a rather large jawbone.Solution: combing the hair to add width from eye level through the crown of the head is helpful. hair in the side and nape sections should be set and combed in a pattern close to the head.
Oblong - add softness
The Oblong Shaped face is characterized by a very long and narrow bone structure. The client who has an oblong facial shape often has a long, thin neck.Solution: a fringe or half-bang across the forehead should be accomplished by soft waves or curls in the crown and nape areas. This flatters the face and neck by creating the oval illusion.
